THE ROLE OF THE ENGLISH CLUB IN IMPROVING STUDENTS' SPEAKING ABILITY AT SMP IT INSAN MADANI

Speaking is widely recognized as one of the most challenging skills for English as a Foreign Language (EFL). To address these challenges, SMP IT Insan Madani implement extracurricular programs such as English Clubs that provide students with additional opportunities to practice speaking in a supportive environment. This study aimed to explore the role of the English Club in improving students' speaking ability at SMP IT Insan Madani. The study employed a qualitative research design. The participants consisted of one English teacher and six students who actively participated in the English Club. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using NVivo 15 to identify emerging themes. The findings revealed that the English Club plays a significant role in improving students' speaking ability by enhancing vocabulary mastery, increasing students' motivation to learn English, building their self-confidence, and improving speaking fluency. The club provides a communicative and interactive learning environment that encourages students to use English more frequently and confidently. These findings suggest that English Clubs can serve as an effective extracurricular program for supporting the development of students' speaking skills in EFL contexts.
